Burnout rarely arrives all at once. It tends to build slowly over time, often beginning with a period of prolonged stress before developing into something deeper. Many people notice that their energy never fully returns, even after rest. Sleep may feel unrefreshing, concentration becomes harder, and everyday tasks can start to feel overwhelming. You might find yourself becoming more irritable, emotionally flat, or disconnected from work and the things that once mattered to you.
Some people describe a constant sense of pressure in their nervous system. Others notice persistent fatigue, brain fog, difficulty making decisions, or a feeling that they are always running on empty. Burnout can also affect how we think about ourselves, leading to increased self-criticism, reduced confidence, and a sense of being stuck in patterns that are difficult to change.
This retreat has been designed as a structured day to help you better understand what is happening in the body and mind during burnout, while also giving you practical tools to begin moving towards recovery.

Our Burnout Retreat combines clear, accessible explanation with practical exercises and restorative practices. Throughout the day we explore what burnout is from a psychological and neurological perspective, while also introducing approaches that can help regulate the nervous system and support sustainable recovery.
The retreat is divided into four guided sections:
🌿 Understanding Burnout & Acceptance
Exploring what burnout is, how it develops, and why the brain and nervous system respond the way they do under prolonged stress.
🌿 Stabilise
Learning physical and mental techniques that can help calm the nervous system, break the cycle of burnout and reduce the intensity of stress responses.
🌿 Protect
Identifying patterns, boundaries and habits that can prevent burnout from returning.
🌿 Restore & Maintain
Developing realistic strategies that support long-term recovery and sustainable energy.
Alongside the teaching and workbook exercises, the day also includes gentle restorative practices designed to help the body shift out of a constant stress response and a locally sourced, seasonal lunch and refreshments.
The retreat closes with an immersive sound bath, giving you time to rest and integrate what you have explored during the day.
Each guest receives a printed workbook to take home, allowing you to revisit the exercises and ideas after the retreat.
This day may be helpful if you have been feeling persistently exhausted, overwhelmed, mentally foggy or emotionally depleted. It is also suitable if you feel you may be moving towards burnout and want to understand how to interrupt that pattern before it becomes more entrenched.
Above all, the retreat offers something that many people struggling with burnout rarely allow themselves: time and space to pause, reflect and begin rebuilding your energy in a more sustainable way.

Our retreats are grounded in the latest developments in health science and mind-body medicine. We draw on current research in mental and physical well-being to help participants understand how the brain, body, and nervous system interact.
By combining these insights with holistic therapies such as mindfulness, breathwork, movement, and relaxation, we create a powerful, restorative experience that supports healing on every level.
This is not simply a day of meditation and advice — it’s a space where science meets self-compassion, and where you’ll leave feeling informed, empowered, and more connected to your body than ever before.

Your Retreat will be guided by Kate Robbins, Integrated Health & Wellbeing Lead at The Barn.
